My partner upgraded to newer wheels, so I need to sell her old car. So if you want the thrill of a silver Prizm, I’ve got the car for you...

You could do a lot worse for $1500

The Prism is the best ever used car, since it’s a Corolla, which is the traditional smart choice for dependable daily drivers combined with huge depreciation.
It’s the closest things cars get to shopping for store-brand items.

That is why I bought it for her in the first place. She needed cheap wheels and she needed them right away. The price difference between a prizm and a corolla was laughable.

Yep. Heck I’d give an Oppo discount just to not have to deal with typical Craigslist buyers.

It’s the laziest badge swap ever alongside the Toyota Cavalier.

If I was in a position to acquire another late 90's, early 00's Toyota, this wouldn’t be a bad choice.

There are the most bizarre & pointless differences between the two though. The front bumper & lights are different, the center dash stack is different, and the throttle cable assembly is different(with different chassis mounting points!).
And my new favorite one, the exhaust donut gasket is different because the corolla exhaust manifold is about 5mm narrower. Because fuck interchangeability, that’s why.

Sooo... what advanages does this motor car have over a train... which I could also afford?

Might I suggest adding more than one picture, It makes the ad look more legitimate. Consider including one of the engine bay too since you mentioned the engine swap, to demonstrate that it is clean and well executed.

I will once I get home. That was the only pic I had on the computer.

I’d be quite tempted if I wasn’t already invested in our Jeep Comanche, and if March wasn’t going to be a super busy month for me. It would make a great winter beater / rallycross car!

Pondering anyway. Is it the 3 or 4 speed auto? Guessing it’s a base model, not an LSi?

I have no idea, if you can tell me how to id the trans I’ll be happy to let you know. And yes, it is the base model.

If there’s an overdrive button on the shifter, it’s a 4-speed. If there is no overdrive button, it’s a 3-speed. Also, does the AC work?
Like I said, March is a very busy month for us, so even if we’re interested we won’t be able to jump on this until the end of March. If someone wants to buy it sooner, by all means let them.

Checked last night, it is a 3-speed. I know the A/C worked when we bought it, but I *think* it stopped working after the engine swap, so safer to assume it isn’t working.

Fair enough. If you had to disconnect it to swap the motor, chances are all the coolant leaked out. Thanks for the info! Good luck with the sale, and if you have no luck by the end of the month let me know - jhughes@rightfootdown.com.
